Within the Facilites & Operations team, the Lab Assistant performs routine laboratory operations, such as:

• Glassware washing and autoclaving
• Inventory maintenance and restocking the laboratory
• Laboratory waste management, including taking out biohazard and chemical waste
• Instrumentation set-up and QA/QC
• Decontamination of equipment
• Mopping, restocking, and decontaminating tissue culture facilities and clean room
• Preparation of media, plates, buffer, and calcium competent cells as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Applicants should have coursework in a hard science, computer science, environmental studies, occupational health, or related fields. This is a part-time position; generally shifts are at least 3 hours long and are flexible based upon applicant’s school schedule.   

Participants will acquire an in depth knowledge of laboratory best practices concerning aseptic and hygienic techniques, quality control, and general laboratory maintenance.

Work study eligibility is preferred.  If you have a work study award, please note in your cover letter that you are eligible along with the effective quarters/semesters. 

Pay range: $18.69/hr
